その後はthe Colosseum and Roman Forumに行きました。
Today, we joined our tour group with Globus. They picked us up at the hotel and give us the highlights of the city. First, we went to the Vatican Museum. The note on Vatican Museum is that there are two lines for the entrance. One for individuals and another for tour groups. The one for individuals does not even open couple hours later than tour groups' one and there was a looooooong line already formed 2 hours before the opening for them. So if you don't want to waste your time in Rome, just join some kind of tour group for that day. It's worth it.

So many things were built for popes and the whole buildings' decoration was to please them. We had a great tour guide in Rome who knew lots of history and stuff...it was nice to join this group. One of our highlights of this trip was going to Sistine Chapel. I (Keiko) have been there before but I learned a lot more about this amazing place this time. Michelangelo was a sculptor when he started painting the chapel, so he started as a beginner fresco painter, and ended up as the best painter. Of course we got to see "Creation of Adam" and "The last Judgement" etc... and it was so amazing.

St. Peter's Basilica is the largest church in the world...

After that, we went to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. It was amazing to walk on the rocks of streets which was made 2000 years ago. Those rocks are strong! It only took 10 years to build this magnificent entertainment arena.

about 2:00 pm, we went to eat late lunch at Perilli In Prati. John found this restaurant from his favorite book, Rick Steve's book and it was a buffet, so he HAD to go there. Food was not that impressive and we were rather disappointed. But that's okay.

We walked a lot a lot in Rome, and today was not exception. We walked down to Piazza Navona and ate light dinner at this restaurant called, "take it easy" yeah, we know we know...it does not sound Italian at all...but we just wanted to eat salad, so we went there. (though it took them about 30 min. to prepare this salad!) There were street performers at the Piazza and we had fun watching them.
Today was a good day again!
