After Christmas, my Mom, John and I went to Shikoku to meet Chiaki and her family. Chiaki and I have known each other since 17 through YMCA camp and she came to our wedding in Hawaii as well. She lives a place called Shimanto city and they are known for their fresh seafood and beautiful Shimanto river. Chiaki's parents own a very nice Japanese restaurant there and we were so excited to eat at their place. It is 5-6 hours away from our place, so we spent one night at a hotel and had a wonderful time!
クリスマスの後、お友達の千晶に逢いに四国の四万十川まで行ってきました。千晶とはYMCAを通して１７歳のときから友だちで、ハワイの結婚式にまで来てくれました。四万十市は四万十川や美味しい魚介類が有名です。千晶のご家族はとても素敵なお料理屋さんをしているので、そこで頂くご飯も楽しみです！一泊でとてもとても大満足の旅をさせてもらいました。

翌日は千晶のママが予約して下さっていたボートで川下りをしました。とても申し訳ない位のご接待を受け、恐縮しっぱなしでした。本当に楽しい思い出ができました。冬の四万十はとても穏やかで水も澄んでいて本当に素敵でした。
Next day, we got on a boat which Chiaki's Mom reserved for all of us and enjoyed the ride on Shimanto river. (They just treated us so well and we just did not know what to say for their generosity.) Shimanto river in winter was so calm and beautiful....just an amazing time with wonderful people. My Mom and Chiaki's Mom became good friends and it was so nice to see them connected.

川下りの後はまたわかまつさんの板前さんが特別に私たちだけの為に作って下さったランチを頂きました。本当に至れり尽くせりで、感動の旅になりました。
After the boat ride, they took us back to their restaurant and gave us special lunch. They don't open for lunch but asked their chef to make special lunch just for us (special one for diabetic Mom, too) and treated us once again! (I don't think we were able to pay for anything in this trip!) Everything we ate was so delicious!
